Empowering Young Heroes
SuperName murals lifts the spirits of youth that are fighting cancer with the empowering gift of having their name magnified in scale and style through graffiti letter murals that include backgrounds and illustrated elements personal to each SuperName hero. Every mural is fully funded by grants and community support.
The Journey
From start to finish, the development of every mural starts with connection and culminates into timeless artwork that celebrates each hero through several mediums
1. Connect
Meeting each hero in person or virtually and learning what they'd love to include in their personal mural
2. Drafting the Sketch
Creating the design and sharing the process through a digital Timelapse video. The sketch is also included in a personal t-shirt for each hero and their family members
3. Finished Mural
The finished mural includes a process video of the creation, unveiling, Drone video, and large framed photo for each hero
SuperName is a project close to my heart as I battled with breast cancer at a young age. Seeing how much time and effort SuperName puts into their work always amazes me. This project has already brought together so many people. The battles we face are reflected in the art work. A lot of times we want to give up, we don’t feel seen, and we don’t feel heard. But SuperName helps show us that we will overcome. Not a lot of people go through what we do, so in reality we are superheores! We battle, fight and for better words - kick cancer’s butt!!

My name is Joe and my artist name is “Basta.”
I’m a local muralist using spray paint and brush.
I survived late stage cancer at a young age, and struggled with many difficult effects that came with that.
Art has always had an incredibly positive impact on my life, especially in challenging times. I have been fortunate enough to see the same effect for many others along that journey.
